A valve adapter is a small fitting that connects an electric pump's hose to a board's inflation valve, bridging the gap between two different thread or diameter standards so air transfers without leaking.
Most inflatable SUPs use a Halkey-Roberts (HR) valve — a bayonet-style twist-lock valve that holds high pressure and seals automatically when the adapter is removed. Because pump hoses and board valves aren't built to a single universal standard, a valve adapter acts as the translator between them.
